HD Televisions in Home Theaters
Once you have put together a home theater system, you will probably want to view high quality movies on it. This is where high definition (HD) television broadcasts and high definition movies come into play. However, you need to be prepared.
High definition video has a higher resolution than older video does, and so old television sets may be unable to display high definition correctly. You should be sure that the television set you have in your home theater supports high definition movies, or else resort to a home theater projector.
You know the HD capabilities of the television from a label. It may have a label saying “HD Ready”, or even better “HD Ready 1080p” or “Full HD”. HD ready television sets can display video at 720p to 1080p resolution depending on the model. Those with full HD notice can display the full 1080p resolution and are optimal for home theater systems.
If you fail to take into account the HD readiness of your home theater television set, and simply buy a sufficiently large one, you will not be able to experience the full movie. Even a great home theater audio system is not enough, if you fail to purchase a quality HD television set.
